Photos from Peru!

HI FAMILY!

First of all, I think a big Happy Father's Day is in order. I know everyone had a good time celebrating. I can't wait to talk to you all on Wednesday at Lukey's birthday party. Anyway, here are some pictures so you can see what Peru is like.

This is me with Urubamba in the background! My friends and I hiked up the mountain behind Urubamba to get a panoramic view of the valley. Urubamba comes from Quechua and means "Flat Land of the Spiders"...creeeeeepy. They had a fun festival this weekend with a parade to celebrate the 100-somethingith anniversary of the political system here. It was a pretty fun weekend. For work the other week, we went to this small town called Pancarhuaylla. A group of students and medical professionals from Pitt State in Kansas were here, so we went to give a talk about hygiene and also about cervical cancer (because it's pretty prevalent in Peru). This is a picture of my boss (wearing white in the foreground) talking to the Peruvians. It was pretty cool, and the information was well received.

After the campaign, we got to play some football with the locals! I hadn't played in SO long, but it felt great. I wasn't really used to the altitude, so I almost popped a lung, but I hope I get more chances to play while I'm here.

Last Sunday I went to visit some ruins! These are the ruins in Ollantaytambo. There is a huge fortress, and it was a really great way to spend the day on Sunday. I went exploring by myself, so thank God for the self-timer on my camera ;-)

Can you see the face?! The Incans carved out a face of their creator god into the side of the mountain. Pretty crazy, right?

Anyway, I can't wait to hear from all of you! I miss you!
