I thought I would try out my posting skills, and what not a better post than one dedicated to the one and only, Marissa Rose. Recently, as in April 24th, Marissa was the proud recipient of the Outstanding Student Award for her work in her Democrats Abroad Internship. She got a certificate and an amazing t-shirt even stating so! We are all very proud of her here on Via Luigi Carrand. Oh, and don't worry, I caught some of the ceremony on video on my camera. However, MORE IMPORTANTLY... Marissa has received the Superb Ant Stomper Award given by... me. Recently, we had an ant infestation, on my bed, and Marissa really came to the rescue, and for that I will be forever grateful. I have never seen anyone kill ants that fast before. She also assisted Piero by holding the vacuum, which he used to suck up the other 100 ants on the window sill. Without her help, none of it would have been possible. Although she wouldn't let me sleep in her bed the night we discovered the ants, she did move my bed perpendicular to hers-- very thoughtful. A million thanks to my lovely roommate and dear cousin. I love you more than you know.

Getting down and dirty.
Some other things I've learned about Rose since living in Italy:
-Marissa is obsessed, possibly addicted to Balsamic Vinegar. She puts it on the obvious, which is only lettuce... but then also pizza, pasta, chicken, pane, or anything else that Fiorenza makes.
-Marissa has a dirty potty mouth. I knew she swore... but she swears so much, shes making me swear... as if it's proper language.
-Marissa has slight insomnia and must take Tylenol PM virtually every night.
-Marissa prefers the shudders shut, so that it is pitch black even at noon, which causes problems when I have to wake up at 7 and I feel like it's still 2 in the morning.
-Marissa has sweet blood, or so it seems. She gets bite by mosquitoes almost every night, even with sleeping with a net around her bed.
-Marissa is the Mosquito Killer Queen with the Electric Flyswatter as her preferred weapon, however, books thrown against the ceiling has worked several times, too.

Thank you so much for enlightening us on the incomparable Marissa Rose. Where would we all be without her... the Democrats would be lost, and you would be eaten alive by ants. WE all miss you both so much. We can't wait til you are home. Thanks again for the update! Love you much!

Tell Marissa Rose if she is a fan of portabella mushrooms to marinate (15 minutes is more than enough) some mushrooms in Balsamic Vinegar and grill until tender... it taste absolutely amazing!
